Patterson-Schwartz Real Estate opened for business on December 1, 1961, when William D. Patterson, Charles E. Schwartz and a small group of associates left the firm of Hanby, Patterson-Schwartz, Inc., Realtors to form their own company. The group began business in a semi-detached house at 1013 Washington Street in Wilmington, Delaware, with a staff of just 10 people.
Today Patterson-Schwartz’ sales team and staff, located in nine offices that stretch from Brandywine Hundred, to the Delaware beaches, and into eastern Maryland, is 450+ strong.
“The founders of the company believed that the people you’re helping today will build your business tomorrow, and that reputation is everything,” says Charlie Schwartz, II, who’s been following his father’s example since 1974, when he joined the company roster. “The company has always been a family; it’s just larger today.”
Our locally owned company is proud to claim both a long history and a majority of the local market share in what is considered an increasingly challenging business. We attribute our success to adhering to the high standards of integrity and service that were established over 50 years ago while making strides to stay ahead of the curve with the demands of the industry.
