These Are the Top Front-Door Colors for 2024
When it comes to your home, first impressions matter—especially, if it's for sale—and nothing says "first impression" louder than your front door. Although a relatively small part of your home's overall design and appeal, the style and color of your front door is a detail to pay close attention to as it conveys your home's personality and hints at the design that lies within.
If your front door is not exactly providing the proper 'wow' factor, you can quickly change things up with a new coat of paint. The question is, what color will have the desired impact? According to the experts at The Spruce and Emily Kantz, the color marketing manager for Sherwin-Williams, these are the top front-door colors for 2024:
Deep charcoal.
This almost-black shade gives your home a sophisticated and classic feel with a touch of mystery. Darker hues like this are great if you're unsure of what direction to go in with your front door color, as they tend to work well with almost any style home. That said, dark charcoal works particularly well against white homes, especially when the shutters and garage doors are painted in the same shade.
Mid-tone green.
If you'd like a front door color that helps accentuate your landscape, Kantz recommends choosing a mid-tone green in a leafy shade, such as kale. According to Kantz, this shade is versatile enough to suit a wide variety of home styles, but looks best with modern-style homes that have clean lines, dark trim and simple exteriors. It also pairs well with white, black, gray and cooler, more muted neutrals.
Classic navy.
A navy shade of paint for your front door is a can't-miss choice, says Kantz, providing a similar effect to a black door but with more timeless appeal. Match your shutters in the same shade for a cohesive, classic look.
Coral.
A playful variation on a traditional red front door, coral will give your home a more youthful, whimsical feel. The cheerful hue works best against white and blue homes, providing an eye-catching contrast.
No matter what shade of paint you choose, Kantz reminds us that the front door is a place where homeowners should feel comfortable experimenting. If the color you choose does not produce the desired results, you can easily repaint without breaking the bank, so feel free to be a bit daring.
